I live in a hot dry area (Greece) but I plan to water these plants every day. Do I still need drought resistant plants? I realize that the heat will dry the soil quickly and much of the water will be evaporated, but if I give them a fair amount of water every morning, non-drought-resistant plants should be alright too, no?

Also, I was thinking, what if I cover the soil with gravel? Will that help retain the moisture in the soil? Thanks a lot!Lingua Non Gratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17626629584263449933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4288778153586473465.post-85892374502727934292012-04-03T15:02:36.161-04:002012-04-03T15:02:36.161-04:00Thorougly enjoyed your tips, ideas and presentatio...Thorougly enjoyed your tips, ideas and presentations. I've made the most of the drier soil by starting seedlings out there where it's normally too wet. I'll just transplant the seedlings once the rains return!Steve Asbellhttp://www.therainforestgarden.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4288778153586473465.post-73400037894225376912011-07-09T22:02:29.304-04:002011-07-09T22:02:29.304-04:00A very useful and informative article. "Desert" plants won't survive heavy rain but many "tropical" plants will survive dry conditions because "winter" in the tropics is usually quite dry.Missyhttp://missysgarden.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4288778153586473465.post-54130488400638608482011-07-08T22:56:34.920-04:002011-07-08T22:56:34.920-04:00Hey, the pictures are of my garden in Florida but ...Hey, the pictures are of my garden in Florida but all of the tips apply to any place! :PSteve Asbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00095474295719758914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4288778153586473465.post-45508292888182629012011-07-08T22:36:58.008-04:002011-07-08T22:36:58.008-04:00I think you should add "for Florida" to ...I think you should add "for Florida" to the title. ;)NotSoAngryRedHeadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11483848154656500575noreply@blogger.com
